Jimmy Tickel, DVM is a veterinarian at the Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases (IIAD), Texas A & M, serving as an animal emergency management subject matter resource for the Institute. Tickel’s expertise is specifically sought after for issues related to disease and disaster mitigation, prevention and response on a national and international level. He has served on the Board of Directors for NASAAEP for all but two of its years and also as the SAADRA representative for his state. Before coming to IIAD, Tickel worked a career with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture in regulatory medicine then disaster and disease response. He also worked in a mixed animal private practice. He has trained personnel in disease and disaster resposne as an Adjunct Professor at NC State College of Vet Med training over 1000 students and Veterinarians and also in 45 of the 50 states in the US . He was recently awared the Global Animal Welfare Award for North Amercia by the World Veterinary Association.
